“Above all, challenge yourself. You may well surprise yourself at what strengths you have, what you can accomplish.” ~ Cecile Springer
There is a girl at my gym who has been doing cardio only for as long as I can remember. I’ve noticed that not only she doesn’t make any progress but also feels so bored.
I have a feeling that she’s doing it out of habit. I often see people doing the same workout “routine” for months, using the same dumbbells, the same amount of sets and reps or just hitting the same elliptical or treadmill every time.
But to see real fitness results, you need to always challenge yourself! Not changing up your exercise program is what creates the plateau which keeps your weight stuck.
So if you’ve been doing the same exercise routine for more than 12 weeks, it’s time to review it and change it up.
Love doing crunches? Instead of doing them on the floor try a stability ball. The wobble factor will target your abs in a new way.
Changing your weights and the number of reps is another way to challenge your muscles and keep things interesting. Every small change can make a big difference.
Remember that the body adapts to workout changes within a couple of weeks. To get fitter, faster, stronger, and better challenge yourself to something new every three months.
Have a great day!
