Why: Egg whites are low in calories but high in protein making them a low-GI food. Low-GI foods have little effect on our blood glucose levels and therefore help keep hunger at bay and reduce the likelihood of mid-morning snacking on high fat foods. Vegetables are also low in fat and calories but high in fibre, vitamins and minerals, resulting in a breakfast that is nutrient rich but at the same time low fat.
