Cheat-Proof Your Diet

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” But when it comes to clean eating and losing weight, sometimes finding that persistence and stick to it can be the biggest challenge of all. Temptation is everywhere and willpower killers like stress, moodiness, boredom, busy schedules can make you cheat on your diet. There are tricks that will keep you from blowing your diet. But there are three things that I find most effective. 1.When you’re tempted to cheat on your diet think “What feels better? The taste of food for 5 minutes and feeling guilty afterwards or feeling fit and good about yourself all day without being bloated and moody?” 2. Learn to praise yourself every once in awhile. Keep a journal and write down small victories you score throughout the day. Keeping track of what you do well instead of dwelling on your goof-ups will build your confidence and remind you that you can do it. 3.Weight-loss expert Susan Albers, PsyD, says don’t dump snacks. It’s easier to stay in control when you have light bites at the ready. So keep your purse and desk stocked with good-news snacks (fruit, nuts, granola bars), and load up the fridge with grilled chicken and other lean proteins. That way, these healthy picks will be waiting for you when you’re starving, making it a no-brainer to reach for them and stay on track.
