Because Change Takes Time

Because Change Takes Time

“Change is not a bolt of lightning that arrives with a zap. It is a bridge built brick by brick, every day, with sweat and humility and slips. It is hard work, and slow work, but it can be thrilling to watch it take shape.” — Sarah Hepola

Remember that change doesn’t happen overnight. It is a process that takes time and requires support.

The real challenge is not to give up

Change Takes Time

“Do you remember the story about the tortoise and the hare?

The hare took off quickly and seemed sure to win the race, but the tortoise kept moving steadily toward the finish line and was able to cross it first.

Why am I reminding you of this old story?

Because the most important thing I’ve learned this year is that slow and steady is the best strategy.

To reach your weight-loss goals, you need to switch from the hare’s mindset to that of the tortoise.

Do you start diets determined to completely avoid temptation and work out seven days a week, only to fall off the wagon and give up hope?

Such an approach can be very appealing for the first few days, but when you skip a workout or give in to temptation (something we all do), you’re more likely to throw in the towel.

I know because I used to do exactly this…” – Stacy Garay

My grandma used to say that slow and steady wins the race. When it comes to weight loss small changes take off big pounds.

So it doesn’t matter if the progress is slow as long as you reach your goal.

Remember that permanent change takes time, effort, lots of patience – and a lifelong commitment.
